Molly’s 4th Birthday | Santa Barbara, CA

I met her when she was six months old. She was this roly-poly girl who didn’t do much but eat. Hands down, she was one of my favorite roommates ever! I have so many memories from the past 3.5 years watching her grow up. One memory that brings tears to my eyes when I think about it was the day I was moving out of the main room and heading home. I was sitting on the floor sorting things to pack when Molly crawled on in to my room. She headed straight for me and didn’t stop until she crawled into my lap, happy as can be. I got so chocked up right when she entered the room because I knew that I would have to say good bye to her and her family in a few mere hours. I don’t think she realized I was crying… she was probably too young.

And still there are more memories.

I got to move back in with this lovely family and live in the garage. Molly was now about 16 months old. She was walking all monkey like and talking in her little talk. One night her mom wanted to show me this new trick that Molly can do. She took Molly’s pacifier out and asked, “Molly, do you need it?” Molly answers in short, abrupt, clear, almost whiny without the whine words, “Need it.” “Molly, do you want it?” “Want it.” And on it went. We just sat there and laughed… Molly finally got her pacifier back.

Anyhow, I love this girl so much and am thankful to be able to visit and watch her grow! I seriously can’t believe she’s four. How time flies. Happy Birthday Molly! I love you to the moon and back.

Jen Turner, this is simply beautiful. How do you catch this rascally girl so perfectly? She knows that you are a very special friend, and she was thrilled to see these photos. I had no idea you were so busy during your “playdate” last week. Thank you for catching our spicy/sweet four-year-old, and for sharing some good memories!
