Grandpa Turner | Reedley, CAJune 27th, 2011I love to hear this guy laugh. His smile, sincerity, and sense of humor warms my heart. Seriously, Grandpa Turner is such a pickle sometimes. I love to hear this guy laugh. His smile, sincerity, and sense of humor warms my heart. Seriously, Grandpa Turner is such a pickle sometimes. Yes Grandpa, I called you a pickle.
He is one of the hardest working men I know (along with my other grandpa and my father, his son). Grandpa Turner can fix anything and he makes the best homemade ice cream (as well as other desserts). He truly is a man of many talents.
Because of Grandpa and his influence on our whole family everyone will turn their head to the sky when we hear a faint hum of an airplane. All the men in the family know what type of plane is passing overhead (I pretend I do when truthfully, I have no idea). Because of Grandpa everyone owns a bike. In fact one of my cousins is a crazy competitor in mountain bike racing, one of my uncles rides at least 30 miles a day on his street bike, and Grandpa still rides his bike for a few miles everyday but now in the comfort of his own home watching the news.
Grandpa has the sweetest bass voice I know. We can always pick his voice out of the choir. It’s the lowest, strongest voice around.
Grantpa Turner is phenomenal. I absolutely love him and his goofy sense of humor. He knows truth and lives by the Word of God. I am so thankful for you Grandpa. I think you’re amazing and I’m so glad that I get to live life with you.

Johnson Family | Orange Cove, CAMay 6th, 2011Location, location, location… that is what they always say in regards to real estate. To me, this is prime real estate… especially for pictures! Location, location, location… that is what they always say in regards to real estate. To me, this is prime real estate… especially for pictures! I loved shooting at this ranch. Off hand I don’t recall which Grandfather built these buildings but he did build them and they are all still in use. It’s a photographers dream. Beautiful sky, amazing old buildings, rolling green fields, cow patties, barn owls, and no rattlesnakes! Not to mention a great family. They were a lot of fun. I haven’t seen the boys for over 10 years so I was totally surprised to see them all grown up. Mark & Debbie, you two look fantastic! Happy 30th Anniversary and Happy 29th Birthday to you Debbie.
I truly enjoyed shooting your portraits and I’m thrilled with how they turned out!

Chris & Becky, you guys might be one of my very favorite set of parents I know. Not that I know how you parent, it’s just that I think you both are that great. Noah is blessed to have such God fearing, loving, funny, goofy, and good looking parents. I guess he’s got good genes. I think he’s going to be as fun as you both because, from what I witnessed, he is full of smiles, giggles, silly faces, and he’s bathed in love. I love you all and I’m so thankful I get to spend those few hours with you in Frazier Park, CA before you headed back to Jackson Hole, WY. You’re the best in the west and I can’t wait to see you all again!!!

On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2011, I asked my Grandfather if I could have him come outside so I can take his picture. He obliged to my little request. I just wanted to capture him not in a pretty picture but in a picture that will always remind me of who he is.
There are so many elements of this image that I love. I love the garage/shop he sits in front of. It just screams Grandpa Conrad. And I love his cane that he’s been carrying around over the past few years. Another element that I love, Shadow. Shadow is Grandpa’s good ol’ dog who went ahead and crawled under grandpa’s legs so that he could get petted better by my grandfathers strong, large hands.
I love my Grandfather. I love the man he is, the work he’s accomplished in his life, and the stories that I get to hear about his life. He is a wealth of wisdom and a man who loves and fears the Lord.
Grandpa, I love you dearly. Thank you for always be an example of someone who doesn’t speak poorly about anyone, who works hard and diligently, and for showing me what a Godly Patriarch looks like.

Raineri Family | Hanford, CAApril 26th, 2011I had such a great time photographing this family. It’s probably because I’ve known some of them since I was two (probably before that but at two is when we took our first camping trip together). I had such a great time photographing this family. It’s probably because I’ve known some of them since I was two (probably before that but at two is when we took our first camping trip together). Anyhow, I’m thankful to know each and every individual of this family and I thoroughly enjoy time spent with them! Especially when we play games.

The Klassen’s and my family have been long time friends. In fact, some of my most cherished childhood memories include this hilarious family. So, because of our history and sense of humor it only made sense to make Richard look giant like he was knocking down some pillars. I look at it and laugh. Mostly because Rich’s body is a little distorted and it looks like he has the smallest of legs. But maybe that’s why I like it so much.

Matt and Jana, thank you for having me take pictures of your lovely family of five and then having me over to sup with you all. Plus, Angie, Percy and I LOVE the lemon cupcakes!

Lake Family | Castle Rock, COFebruary 13th, 2011Hopefully we all have friends like these… You know the ones…. they live thousands of miles away and you may see them once a year, twice if you’re lucky. Hopefully we all have friends like these… You know the ones…. they live thousands of miles away and you may see them once a year, twice if you’re lucky. And even though there is distance and lack of communication or contact, the relationship doesn’t change. Those friendships are more of a blessing to me then I can even relate in words. Monica is one of those friends. I love her and her family so much that when we got to spend a day together this past December it was like getting a full breath in and breathing easier.

A few weeks back I had the privilege of photographing a family that I grew up with. Marni, who is now a mom of 4 (!!!), was a good friend of mine from 1st grade through 7th grade and then she went off to Immanuel with a few other close friends and left me out in the good ol’ countryside school. After years upon years we reconnected via Facebook now I’ve been able to see this wonderful family three times within the past couple of months. So I will stop rambling and start showing, we shot at two different locations. Firsts stop, the countryside near the fireplace on the 180 (ya’ll know what I’m talking about). Second stop, Woodward Park in Fresno to meet up with Great Great Grandma and some extended family. Mind you, there are five generations of this family and it was a pleasure to capture a traditional family photograph for them!
Enjoy…

The Family of Shinn Photo in front of the camera | Reedley, CASeptember 16th, 2010Earlier this week I had the coolest opportunity to photograph Andrew & Lisa Shinn along with their hilariously lovely children. Earlier this week I had the coolest opportunity to photograph Andrew & Lisa Shinn along with their hilariously lovely children. Most likely, if you’re from the Reedley and surrounding areas, you know the name of Andrew Shinn; him and his wife own Shinn Photography located in downtown Reedley. Well, a few weeks ago they contacted me and asked me to photograph them! What?! I was nervous right at that very second. I’ve never photographed another photographer except when I was a student at Brooks Institute where I would use my peers as models. But now being in the Photographic Industry, shooting another photographer, my knees were shaking to say the least. Plus, for whatever reason, I had this brilliant idea and I threw it out there shocked to get a green light from Andrew & Lisa. Well, the brilliant idea was to get up and do their family shoot at sunrise! Hello, they have a 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 (or is Liam 4 now? I forget) year old children. Still, we did it. I don’t know if I was more nervous photographing other photographers or if Andrew had me beat with his shaky nerves from being in front of the camera. Either way, we both sucked it up, had some fun, enjoyed an AMAZING sunrise, played Red Light, Green Light, then ended the family shoot with some Doughnuts-To-Go. Now that’s a good morning. Let me just back track for a sec, when I say the sunrise was amazing I mean I’ve never seen the rays of light stretching out from the mountain top into the morning sky like that. It was incredible. Then the sun peeked up over the hills and the light was absolutely brilliant.
Anyhow, here is a little storyboard from the shoot. Enjoy…
