Jake and Raquel are fabulous in front of the camera. I had the privilege of shooting a second round of engagement pictures with them and I am anxiously awaiting June when they get married! Steve & Erin married in October 2011 at the Piccadilly Inn Airport in Fresno. From the day I met her, Erin called herself Bridezilla. And I have to be honest… she lies! Erin knows what she wants, how she wants it, and she will put her foot down but underneath the tough facade, she’s funny, kind, easy going, and full of joy. I was nervous about the Bridezilla schpell but I saw through it.
Erin’s dress was phenomenal. In fact, my sister & second shooter keeps talking about it. It was different and memorable. Absolutely stunning! This fantastic dress with Erin’s bangs and feather hair piece really made her the queen of the show. She looked absolutely amazing and I know Steve was over the moon excited to marry her!
I thoroughly enjoyed the guys clothing just as much as the girls. They looked so dapper and charming. The burnt orange ties with the white vests were perfect. They looked fantastic! Plus, they wore boutonnieres designed by Simply Flowers that was the icing no the cake.
The whole day was a lot of fun. This crew loves to relax, dance, and party. That makes for a rockin’ dance floor… and it was!
Steve & Erin, enjoy your new home in the freezing mid-west! Congratulations and may your life be full of joy and laughter.

One small part of my job that I love is connecting with other vendors. My brides find some phenomenal artists and I’m always thrilled to photograph everyones creations. Back in October 2010 I photographed an invitation that was unique, one of a kind and I have never forgotten it! Joel & Devon found and hired Kari Joy to design and create their invites. Devon really wanted everything to be printed on fabric with a wood backing. Kari went above and beyond with the invites.
The envelopes mimicked the wood feel with a sweet design and Kari used the fabric to wrap around the cards with the printed addresses on the front and return address on the back. When opened you found a darling band with the couples design (created by Kari of course), their two birds, the names and wedding date surrounding the invite itself. Sliding that off you could see the type, the style, feel the wood mixed with fabric. It was so lovely to the senses. I have never forgotten it.
Then one day I met Kari. What a blessing! She is absolutely phenomenal. She loves to design (graduating with a degree in interior design), take on huge projects (just bought a schoolhouse built in 1919 to renovate and live in with her husband), and she also owns her very own letterpress for her small paper business to use! Sure, the invite I showed you was printed on fabric and the letterpress was not used but I did get some business cards from Kari for you to see her letterpress style and technique. Just. Absolutely. Amazing.
Of course this girl has a blog with her sister all about design. A must read if you want to learn, see new ideas and trends, and have a giggle or two. And she randomly posts some delicious recipes as well! Check out Babs Blog and if you’re ever in need of someone to design an invitation suite or a Christmas Card, even letterpress business cards then contact Kari. I’ll be honest, I did for my wedding! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with!!!

I scored big time when I got hired to shoot Ben & Teresa’s wedding in Hopland, CA. Teresa is a designer and encouraged by Ben to pursue her career as her own boss. Her style and design elements were all over the wedding! It was phenomenal.
The Vera Wang dress that she sported was stunning. I’ve never seen a dress like it before. The skirt was so full and fluffy contrasted by the smooth, sleek bodice; it was a masterpiece.
For months Teresa and Ben grew succulents in their San Francisco apartment which adorned the rustic tabletops and were used in the handmade boutonnieres and bouquets.
Personal elements sprang up everywhere. With five long tables the couple used five different numbers that represented moments in their life together. From the amount of days on their honeymoon to an infinity sign representing the amount of love at the party. (And there truly was that much love there… I overheard a bridesmaid tell Teresa that… and it was so true.)
B&T had hankies for their guests to catch their tears while sitting under a giant oak watching the two exchange their vows, there were blankets to snuggle under as the night came upon the party to ward off the chill in the air, and there were precious toys for the children to keep and play with at their table setting.
Every element was sheer delight to see and photograph. Oh! How could I not mention this?! Campovida is a sustainable farm filled with gorgeous foliage, fruits and veggies. The couple gave honey and vanilla made on the farm as their gifts and they made sure to hire local vendors to support their states economy and keep their wedding green (and wonderful).
Congratulations b&t! Your wedding was a pure delight to photograph and I loved the mustard yellow mismatched bridesmaid dresses align with the guys grey suits. (I had to mention those!)

Chris and Natasa were a lot of fun to photograph all throughout San Francisco! They have this lovely apartment that we met at then we jumped in their car and took off for a couple of hours of shooting. Percy and I got to see some new places that we had never been to in San Fran including the historical dutch windmills in Golden Gate Park. They are so beautiful! Chris and Natasa looked amazing standing in front of that giant, old windmill. Not to say they didn’t look amazing everywhere else, because, truth be told, they did. My favorite part of the day was trying to find the natural smile that Chris has. We were able to capture it and it was then that I knew we were golden.
I am excited to shoot your wedding this fall! No matter how overwhelming the planning process may be, I know it’s going to turn out beautifully. That’s clear to me because you both have such good taste (I mean, look at your apartment!).

These aren’t our official engagement pictures although we don’t know if we will end up taking official engagement pictures! Any photographers want to practice taking pictures of a black and white chubby couple? There’s lots to learn and we’re pretty willing to laugh at ourselves.
