On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2011, I asked my Grandfather if I could have him come outside so I can take his picture. He obliged to my little request. I just wanted to capture him not in a pretty picture but in a picture that will always remind me of who he is.
There are so many elements of this image that I love. I love the garage/shop he sits in front of. It just screams Grandpa Conrad. And I love his cane that he’s been carrying around over the past few years. Another element that I love, Shadow. Shadow is Grandpa’s good ol’ dog who went ahead and crawled under grandpa’s legs so that he could get petted better by my grandfathers strong, large hands.
I love my Grandfather. I love the man he is, the work he’s accomplished in his life, and the stories that I get to hear about his life. He is a wealth of wisdom and a man who loves and fears the Lord.
Grandpa, I love you dearly. Thank you for always be an example of someone who doesn’t speak poorly about anyone, who works hard and diligently, and for showing me what a Godly Patriarch looks like.
