Such a great day… and here’s a sampling.

Weighing in at 8.5 lbs the chocolate cake is exactly that… chocolate.  I haven’t tasted it yet but I imagine that it’s gonna be a super rich treat.  I’m thinking I should buy some vanilla bean ice cream to balance out the intense bittersweet chocolate & chocolate ganache.  AND, the recipe didn’t tell me to put the cake on a large plate because the ganache would ooze everywhere!  Thankfully it didn’t spill off the plate but the cake is surrounded by a moat of chocolaty goodness.

I spent a small portion of this evening baking a cake.  It won’t be finished until tomorrow because I have to leave it in the fridge overnight then make the chocolate gnache to finish it off.  This cake is like none I’ve ever made.  It doesn’t have flour!  So it’s really thin… I mean REALLY thin.  There are going to be three layers but they won’t stack up nice and tall like most cakes.  Either way, this thing should be delicious.  I’ll post the after pictures tomorrow.  Until then, here are the before.

Oh, and by the way, my house smells chocolaty good.
