My photography

One size doesn’t necessarily fit all…

I’m a girl who loves road trips, friendships, and laughter.  Coffee, chocolate and baking cakes from scratch bring me joy.  To my eye, wildflowers sprinkling the rolling foothills are one of the most beautiful things in the world.  These things may make me seem ordinary but these things make me who I am. Life is good, it’s short, and I want to make it sweet.

I am Jen;  a photographer, a dreamer, a laugher, and a giver.

Let’s do lunch.

It was so good to see her, meet her husband, and catch up a little bit about the past 16 years. (That can’t be right… 16 years? Tell me I’m wrong someone from RHS ’96!)

Anyhow, it was wonderful taking these photos real quickly just before we enjoyed a traditional Chinese meal with Tina and her extended family!

Enjoy my friends, I’m so glad we got to see one another and catch up a little! Congratulations and my your marriage be full of adventures and nonstop love.

The bride, more than anything else, wanted pictures of the people, of her and her husbands loved ones. So instead of focusing on the details we focused on what she wanted, her family and friends. It was an amazing celebration full of tradition, dancing, and delicious food! There were so many cultural traditions woven into the festivities that we were always on our toes and awed by the things happening around us.

Congratulations Sami & Erika! May your marriage be filled with joy and may your family grow in abundance. :)

Stephen & Erin are scientists. Super smart people and super fantastic as well! They tied the knot at Hotel Vital in San Francisco on the roof. It was remarkable, and what made it totally memorable for me was the fact that there were protestors camping out in the field next to the hotel. For whatever reason, during their ceremony all was silent. It was perfect.

I love being able to work with an amazing team of vendors and s&e really pulled a great one together. The girls of Enjoy Events Co. are ALWAYS fantastic and step up their game each time they design something new. I was amazed at all of the lovely details and how perfectly the modern style came together! The flowers were created by Laura Miller Design, one of my all time favorite florists! She’s phenomenal. DJ Dukes rocked the house and stood in front of a vinyl backdrop which was perfectly suited for the couple. All of it was amazing. Take a look for yourself!

Congratulations Stephen & Erin! May your lives be one of joy, adventure, laughter, and smiles!

Trenton and Jenna tied the knot last fall at the church which Jenna’s father Pastors, New Harvest in Clovis, CA. They did a complete makeover of the sanctuary creating this long, dramatic hall where giant images of the couple hung. It was lined with white couches, gorgeous lamps, a deep red carpet, and beautiful chandeliers hung down the center. With the color palette of red, black, and white everything was dramatic and eye catching. After the intimate ceremony where Jenna’s father gave her away and then had the opportunity to conduct the ceremony everyone headed off to The Grand in downtown Fresno. The ballroom was packed. You see, Jenna and Trenton are really great and people LOVE them so it wasn’t a shock to me to see pretty much every seat taken. The joy and excitement in the rooms was palpable; everyone danced, laughed, and chatted the night away. It was absolutely fantastic!

Congratulations Trenton & Jenna! May your life together be filled with love, laughs, and joy (and kids too?!). Blessings to you my friends.

Exactly ten days from now I will get to stand beside my goofy, tender hearted guy and tell him that I am his forever. I get to share my heart with him in front of a small group of close family and friends. And I get to experience my own big day, my own stressing over the details, my own uncontrolled emotions. I can’t wait. Not that I’m ready with the planning parts, but I am ready to spend my life with Percy L. Lacey Jr. Lord knows it’s going to be an interesting life!

The brilliant Jennifer & Kenneth of Ever Whim Photographs will be capturing our wedding day. I’m so excited to be able to share what we’ve put together! It’s definitely not the wedding I had envisioned but usually everything I create isn’t what I had in mind for myself. I tend to imagine things really soft, pretty, flowey, and free but when I create things become structured, bright, colorful, happy, and fresh. I guess that’s what my wedding will be. And again, I. Can’t. Wait!

Because of my upcoming nuptials and honeymoon I am closing shop for the remainder of the month.  I just can’t focus on your wedding and mine at all one time no matter how much I want to or how hard I try.  And, in April I have all of the time in the world to get back to the daily grind.  But for now my site is set on March 23rd.  Oh gosh, I hope it doesn’t rain!

Here’s a few of my favorite images taken by Ever Whim when we headed to Carmel for a short visit. Percy and I love the pictures so much and we can’t wait to blow some of these up for our home (that I get to move into after our honeymoon!!!!!).

Stuff I Love | Chocolate Covered Gummy Bears

I can’t really explain it, the love I have for this little thing.  Maybe you can see the results of this love on my hips and I guess that’s what matters.  (What am I saying?!)  I love, love, love chocolate covered gummy bears.  Rarely can I find these delicious morsels of chocolate covered gummy goodness so when I’m desperate for the sweet, chewy, beary goodness I combine the cheapest gummy bears from Walgreens or the like with chocolate chips and I’m satisfied.

Funny story, my brides learn about my love for chocolate covered gummy bears and I had one bride send me a gift in the mail.  I opened tattered box that had stickers plastered all over it saying the post office was not responsible for the box opening and getting all damaged.  Inside of this messed up boxI found two CD’s of classical music.  Totally confused about why she would send me this music I e-mailed, like anyone would do, and thanked her for her confusing gift.  For whatever reason I thought she wanted me to pass the Cd’s on to her DJ (she was a destination bride planning her wedding from hours away).  Quickly I received a response from my baffled bride wondering where the chocolate covered gummy bears were!  D’oh!  She sent the most delicious treat in the world and the dumb ol’ Post Office switched my candy out for some lame CD’s.  I laughed so hard (yet still felt the sting of sadness) and I chuckle to myself every time I think of that moment and those e-mails back and forth with my bride.

It’s just something quirky that you may not have known about me.  I LOVE CHOCOLATE COVERED GUMMY BEARS!!!

I absolutely love Instagram. In fact, I love it more than Facebook. Instagram is the thing I check in the morning. Seeing the moments my friends share bring me joy. Countless time I laugh when I see a certain image paired with its caption. And, on the other hand, there have been some tender, knot in my throat, tear in my eye moments that have been shared over Instagram. It’s an absolutely wonderful little app to me.

Come to think of it, through Instagram I asked my dear friends (who live in far off lands) to be my bridesmaids. It’s simply wonderful. Oh, and those girls accepted… more on the wedding stuff soon… I promise! :)

Instagram is fun, it’s great, it’s everything I hoped it would be.  If you want to see life through my eyes feel free to follow me on Instagram, JenEileen. Let me know you’re there; let’s connect!

Lou and Jessica’s Oak Farm Vineyards Wedding | Lodi, CA

Jessica and Lou are this great couple who have such magnetizing personalities that their friends follow them wherever they move.  Seriously, they do.  After high school everyone headed to San Luis Obispo to attend college, then from there Lou decided to move to Arizona (I don’t remember why but it was for some good reason) and of course everyone followed.  Now a large portion of the wedding party live out in Arizona and just love life and love being together.  All of that to say, we had a fabulous time shooting their wedding!  Jessica did an amazing job planning from afar.  It all came together perfectly and was just so beautiful!

I loved the sweet invitations, the venue, the dresses, the suits, the style of the reception, the giant oak that they were married under, and so much more!  I highlighted some of my favorite things in between some pics so I don’t want to repeat myself a lot.  But check out what cool things can be done when you’re planning a wedding in one state and getting married in another.  Jessica should be an inspiration for many of you ladies planning your wedding!  Enjoy!

The ladies carried bouquets of hydrangeas.  They were beautiful and delicate.  So soft and perfect.

The bridesmaids dressed in mismatched navy blue dresses while the groomsmen wore sleek gray pants, white button down shirt, with a thin black tie… they looked so classy.  But the two that stole the show, well, it should be obvious, were the bride and groom.  Jessica’s dress was gorgeous and fit her perfectly while Lou look stellar in his gray suit.

Lou and Jess married under a large oak tree in Lodi, CA on a beautiful fall day in October. Their initials were engraved inside a heart hanging on the tree with strands of bling hanging down from the giant limbs.

During the cocktail hour the guests enjoyed a signature drink of sweet tea which was served in the mason jars and there were paper straws available to sip ‘em down with while they played lawn games like bocci ball and bean bag toss.

This group of people were a lot of fun to work with.  I love when people know each other and they are able to laugh and have a good time.  It makes the portrait part of a wedding day that much better!  Everyone was seriously so great.

Oak Farm Vineyard is nestled in the countryside of Lodi, CA.  It’s stunning.  From the lawn where the l&j got married to the white barn out in front where we took some of the pictures, it was all well manicured and absolutely lovely.  I can’t wait to go back and shoot more weddings here!

Jessica has great style… I saw this right when I arrived at the venue and saw the tables being set.  I loved, loved, loved the lace details, the gray, yellow, and navy blue decor, and the paper lanterns hanging above the sweetheart table.  It was classy, modern, sophisticated and chic.  Plus they had fun elements like the  crossword puzzle about the bride and groom and on each table were mustaches, lips, glasses, and bow ties on sticks.  So great.

Jessica & Lou’s family and friends all brought desserts to fill this super long table.  Every little morsel that I was able to sample was delicious and I was bummed to not be able to taste everything!  It was amazing and their table banner is so true… Love IS sweet!

Doily popcorn cups!?!  Darling!  Well done Jess, well done.

The whole day was a ton of fun and as you can see it was absolutely beautiful.  Congratulations l&j!  May you continue to grow more in love day in and day out.
